Library Restorations
We keep hearing how the downtown library is shabby, how it is beyond repair or beyond renovation and revitalization. How there isn't enough Measure S funding available to produce a beautifully renovated library. All of these statements are unsubstantiated, without proof as well as without vision.
Currently, five of Santa Cruz County's library branches are being renovated and revitalized. Below are two examples prepared by Jayson Architecture, the firm that will present their vision for renovation and revitalization of the Downtown Branch library to the City Council Library Subcommittee.

Detroit Metropolitan Building
Look at this astonishing transformation of Detroit's Metropolitan Building, a 14-story Neo-Gothic office building built in 1925 that had been abandoned for 40 years. It cost $33 million and opened in July 2019. Imagine what we could do with our 2-story library and the $27 million of Measure S money allocated to it!
